If you are unfamiliar with Tony Palmer and his role as a bridge-builder between the Roman Catholic Church and non-Catholic Christians and Protestants, I encourage you to begin by reading an earlier post to the Parables Blog on this subject.

Back in January of 2014 Tony Palmer appeared at a Kenneth Copeland Ministries leadership conference where he introduced a recorded video of Pope Francis presenting a plea for unity among Catholics and non-Catholics. Kenneth Copeland and the audience of ministers responded with great enthusiasm as they prayed for the Pope. Kenneth Copeland in turn recorded a video message invoking a blessing over the leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics.

Since that time, Kenneth Copeland and the group of non-Catholic church leaders pictured above have traveled to the Vatican at the Pope’s invitation where they expressed their readiness to publicly make known their desire for unity with the Roman Catholic Church. Tony Palmer was instrumental as a unifying influence in bringing these representatives of diverse religious organizations together.

This has been a busy year for ecumenism as the Pope has met with other well known Protestant leaders who have expressed enthusiasm for joining with the Roman church in carrying out their role as ambassadors of Christ. On June 4th, just a couple weeks before the Pope’s meeting with Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen visited the Pope. Osteen was joined by Utah Senator Mike Lee (a Mormon), California pastor Tim Timmons who is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and Gayle D. Beebe, president of evangelical Westmont College.

The video of Tony Palmer presenting the Pope’s message at the Kenneth Copeland Ministries conference has gone viral. There are more than a million views of it in its various forms on YouTube. This has garnered a lot of attention for Tony Palmer who was previously unknown to all but a few. My previous post regarding this man came after Rick Wiles of TruNews interviewed Palmer on his radio broadcast back in May of this year. On June 24th the meeting between the Pope, Kenneth Copeland, James Robison, and other Protestant leaders took place.

Less than a month later Tony Palmer was dead. He was struck by a silver Audi automobile as he was riding his motorcycle down a quiet country road near his home in England. The Audi was reportedly in the wrong lane when the accident occurred.

It struck me as very unusual for a man as young as Bishop Tony Palmer to die at the very moment when he had risen to international prominence. I wondered at the significance of his death which occurred on July 20th of this year. At the time I had no revelation of the spiritual significance of this event. Recently, as I was reading another article on the meeting Palmer arranged on June 24th between the Pope and the Protestant religious leaders, I learned of a document that Palmer presented to the Pope. The document is titled the Declaration of Faith in Unity for Mission. Palmer was a major contributor to the document, and he presented it personally to the Pope. The document has three main elements. It contains the Nicean-Constantinople Creed. This creed reads as follows:

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, Begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man;
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried;
And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures;
And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father;
And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, Whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, Who spoke by the Prophets;
And we believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins.
We look for the Resurrection of the dead, and the Life of the age to come. Amen.

The mention of the Virgin Mary and the “one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church” set this creed apart from some others that have been embraced by Protestant denominations. The document Palmer presented the Pope also contained the core of the Catholic-Lutheran declaration of 1999 asserting that there is no longer any disagreement over the doctrine of justification by faith. A final section of the document asserts that Catholics and evangelicals are now “united in mission because we are declaring the same Gospel.”

When Tony Palmer spoke at the Kenneth Copeland Ministries conference he declared that the doctrinal basis for Martin Luther’s protest had now been resolved. He referred to the Roman Catholic and Lutheran Church’s declaration of 1999 where they found a middle ground of agreement between salvation by works (Catholic) and salvation by faith (Lutheran). Palmer confidently proclaimed, “Brothers and sisters, Luther’s protest is over. Is yours?”

This statement reveals both the cunning and deception of Satan. Luther posted 99 points of protest against Catholic teachings and practices when he nailed his thesis to the door of the church in Wittenberg. Some of the many false doctrines of Rome Palmer neglected to mention include the veneration of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Co-Redemptrix with Christ;  the immaculate conception and the assumption of Mary (that the Virgin Mary “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”); prayers to dead saints; praying the rosary; the doctrine of transubstantiation that purports that the elements of communion become the literal, physical, blood and body of Christ when consumed; prayers for the dead to shorten their time in purgatory; the veneration of relics; Papal superiority; and the immense and pervasive infusion of rites and symbols related to sun worship and other pagan religions into Roman Catholicism. Christ and His disciples emphatically taught that there could be no communion, fellowship, or unity between Christ and Satan, between truth and error, between light and darkness. Yet, men such as Tony Palmer have sought to establish fellowship where there is no divine basis for it. They have embraced the lie that unity is more important than fidelity to truth. They have decried division as diabolical in contradiction to the words of Christ and His apostles.

Matthew 10:34-37
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies will be the members of his household.  He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.”

II Corinthians 6:14-18
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters,’ says the Lord Almighty."

Division over falsehood and deception is not of the Devil. To yoke together truth and error, light and darkness, are of the Devil. In a highly symbolic act to mark the end of Protestant separation from the gross errors of Rome, Tony Palmer and the evangelical Christians who joined with him suggested to the Pope that the Declaration of Faith in Unity for Mission be signed by both the Vatican and leaders of the major Protestant churches in Rome in 2017, on the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

When I found out about this document that Tony Palmer helped author, and which he presented to the Pope, the following Scriptures came to mind which shone forth some light of understanding regarding the spiritual significance of his death a few weeks later.

Exodus 24:8
So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, "Behold the blood of the covenant, which Yahweh has made with you in accordance with all these words."

Hebrews 9:17-18
For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.

Tony Palmer was acting as the representative of a new covenant. It is a covenant whose aim is to restore the breech between the Harlot of Rome and the people of God who have come out of her. This is the great work of Satan at this hour. He seeks to lead the entire body of Christ back into the darkness of Rome and return the world to a new “Dark Age.” Even as Rome was responsible for suppressing the light of truth, and fostering an age of serfdom, poverty, distress, persecution, and an absence of personal liberty that has become known as The Dark Ages, Rome once again must play her role in covering the entire earth with darkness.

Satan has sent forth his representative with a new covenant that would bring non-Catholic Christians back into the Roman Harlot’s embrace. The covenant had to be sealed in blood. “A covenant... is never in force while the one who made it lives.” The apostle Paul declared:

I Corinthians 11:23-25
The Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way He took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

A short time after the Lord broke bread and passed the wine to His disciples His body was broken and His blood was poured out. In this way the new covenant was sealed, and put into force.

Brothers and sisters, the covenant that Tony Palmer drafted and is calling for both Protestant believers and Catholics to enter into is a covenant of darkness and death. Unlike the new covenant Christ brought forth, it will not produce life and truth. Those who enter the covenant presented by Tony Palmer must deny the truth, and in doing so they condemn themselves to spiritual darkness and the death which results.

At this hour the Spirit of God is uttering the words recorded by the apostle John in the 18th chapter of Revelation.

Revelation 18:4-8
“Come out of her (the great harlot, Babylon), my people, that you may not participate in her sins and that you may not receive of her plagues; for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, 'I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.' For this reason in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong.”

The Spirit of Christ is calling a holy remnant to come out of the confusion of Rome. There are others who are wooing the people of God into darkness. We live in an hour when many will be brought to the valley of decision. Choose wisely!
